You must check your eligibility against the nationally agreed person specification for your chosen specialty before applying

Updated person specifications for 2025

The person specifications which set out the eligibility criteria for ST1 and CT1 medical specialty training have been updated for 2025 recruitment which starts in October 2024.

The person specifications have evolved over the years and have become increasingly difficult for candidates to navigate. A joint working group which included the General Medical Council has been looking at the person specifications and how accessibility could be improved.

The key information on assessment criteria have been made clearer with key information including links to relevant guidance and forms.
