Person specifications

You must check the relevant person specification for the year you are applying to as requirements may differ for each recruitment year.

The person specifications which set out the eligibility criteria for ST1 and CT1 medical specialty training are being updated for candidates applying to 2025 recruitment which starts in October 2024.

A joint working group which included the General Medical Council has been looking at the person specifications and how accessibility could be improved. The person specifications have evolved over the years and have become increasingly difficult for candidates to navigate.
