References for the GP International Induction Programme (IIP) and Return to Practice (RtP) Programmes
The local educational lead for Health Education England (HEE) has requested that you provide two satisfactory references. Please ask your referees to complete the appropriate form, which are available below. Once completed, return it to the HEE Educational lead who is managing your programme application, and the North-West NHS England team for your Medical Performers List application.
Satisfactory References will need to be provided as part of your application to the Programme and to the NHS England Medical Performers List and must adhere to the following:
Clinical References
- Two recent posts (one of should be your current post and one in the last two years) each of which lasted at least three months (continuous period) without a significant break or where this is not possible;
- Two referees, who are willing to provide clinical references relating to two previous posts each of which lasted at least three months without a significant break and include one from your last clinical post, or
- Where 1 or 2 above are not possible, a full explanation as to why this is the case and the names and addresses of two alternative referees (Non-clinical).
Satisfactory References are required before your review with the local HEE Educational lead and must be returned at the time of application to take the scheme MCQ’s.
References should be from work with in the last 24 months, if this is not possible please review with the HEE Lead. Where another reference is to be used this must be agreed before hand with the HEE Lead and the NHS England team
You will need to include photo ID (passport) and copies of your original documentation as listed
Confirmation of your GMC registration is required by the time you sit the simulated surgery assessment, but it is not necessarily at this stage to hold a licence to practice but it will be required for the application to the Medical Performers List
Copies of these two references will be sent to the NHS England local team by the HEE Lead along with confirmation of your registration and application for entry to the scheme.
Important: Please note
That NHS England may request additional references if these are deemed insufficient or unsatisfactory for the purposes of an MPL application.
It is a requirement prior to commencement of an I&R clinical placement that you have appropriate
