How self-assessment works and how you will sumbit evidence.

Verification process

Self-assessment/unverified score

The self-assessment will be completed online as part of the Oriel application. Your self-assessment score will then be verified by a panel comprising of Clinical Radiology Consultants. It is crucial that you complete your self-assessment honestly and accurately at the time of application. It is not possible to change your self-assessment score after you have submitted your application under any circumstances.

Your self-assessment score, as submitted on your application form will be verified and contribute towards your overall score.

You will be provided with further instructions about how to upload evidence to the evidence portal in due course. You should ensure that you present the evidence in the requested format. Failure to do so could result in your evidence being rejected and/or the self-assessment score being revised downwards.

  • Self-assessment scores cannot be changed once your application has been submitted.
  • Recruitment administrative team are unable to provide guidance on the score you should select.
  • Recruitment administrative team are unable to change any scores at any stage of your application process.
  • Recruitment administrators will not be able to upload evidence on behalf of applicants and candidates are advised to use their best judgement to this regard.
  • Scoring and uploading evidence is mandatory and failure to do so will result in your application being withdrawn.

Failure to submit all evidence by the stated deadline will result in your application form being withdrawn by the recruitment team. The window to upload evidence to support your self-verified score is from Monday 5 February 2024 to Monday 19 February 2024.

Once the deadline for submission has passed, applicant access will be withdrawn. There is no further opportunity to add in any documentation after the deadline has passed.

Verified score process

Submitted evidence will be verified against the self-assessment criteria for all applicants by a panel of consultant Clinical Radiologists. Where the evidence submitted does not match the score awarded, the score will be adjusted accordingly by a member of the panel.

Any instances where applicants are found to have deliberately over-scored their self-assessment may be treated as probity concerns. This may lead to being removed from the recruitment process or a referral to the Genenral Medical Council (GMC).

If the applicant self-assessment score differs significantly from the assessor score then applicants should expect to be contacted by an assessor as part of a probity process. Please ensure that your contact details on Oriel are correct and kept up to date as these are the details that will be used to contact you.

On completion of the verification process, applicants will be sent their verified scoresheet via email to their email address registered on Oriel (but not via Oriel), together with the verification panel’s feedback explaining any changes to score. You will be messaged via Oriel to advise it has been sent.

Verification appeals

Once you have received your email with your verified scoresheet, you will also be notified the appeals window has opened and the closing time, this is a 72 hour window. Should you disagree with the score awarded, you can lodge an appeal before the window closes. Instructions on how to submit an appeal will be emailed nearer the time.  Please note that no new evidence can be presented/uploaded as part of the appeals process, you can also advise why you feel the evidence you presented should be scored differently.

Appeals received after the 72-hour deadline will not be considered. If you have issues submitting the appeal please ensure you contact us before the deadline so we can help you resolve this.

Once the appeal panel has reviewed your submission, you will receive an email with an updated scoresheet. The outcome of the appeal is final and there is no further recourse for dissatisfied applicants. No further discussions will take place with candidates at this stage. Disagreements over self-assessment scores fall out of scope of the MDRS Complaints Policy
