If you do not meet the eligiblity criteria

You are not eligible for this process.

If you do meet the eligibility criteria

You are eligible to apply for special circumstances.

Confirm that you wish to be considered for special circumstances on your Oriel application form.

Complete the registration form to register for special circumstances.

Download and complete the relevant special circumstances application form and gather the supporting evidence for each criterion you wish to apply under.

Submit the completed application form and all evidence as a single file by email to [email protected] by the published deadline.

The Medical and Dental Recruitment and Selection (MDRS) team checks that your application and evidence are received by the published deadline.

If your application is received by the deadline

Your appeal proceeds to the national eligibility panel.

If your application is received after the deadline

Your application cannot be considered.

The application is reviewed by a national eligibility panel to determine whether the applicant meets the special circumstances eligibility requirements.

If you are not eligible for special circumstances

You will be informed of the eligibility panel decision and the reason your application was not considered eligible.

If you are eligible for special circumstances

You will be informed of the eligibility panel decision. When you are invited to rank your programme preferences you should follow the guidance on our website.

Your eligibility panel outcome letter outlines the additional evidence required to appeal.

If you have the required addition evidence

You are able to submit an appeal.

If you do not have the required additional evidence

You are not able to submit an appeal, and the eligibility panel decision stands.

Submit the missing or incomplete evidence outlined in the eligibility panel outcome letter to [email protected] by the deadline stated in the outcome letter.

The MDRS team check that your appeal is received by the deadline stated in the eligibility panel outcome letter.

Appeal received by the deadline

Your appeal proceeds to the national appeal panel.

Appeal received after the deadline

Your appeal cannot be considered, and the eligibility panel outcome stands.

The appeal panel reviews whether the additional evidence meets the eligibility requirements.

If you are not eligible for special circumstances

You will be informed of the appeal panel decision and the reason your application was not considered eligible. This is no further opportunity to appeal.
