Overview of ST3 Training

When you complete ST3 Training you will be eligible for a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or a Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration Combined Programmes (CESR-CP).

A specialty-specific and co-ordinated aproach to recruitment to ST3 posts exists which enables you to maximise your chances of being appointed to training posts through a clear and efficient system.

The HEE North West Local Office are responsible for national recruitment to ST3 Obstetrics and Gynaecology across England, Scotland and Wales.

Northern Ireland operates its own recruitment process for ST3 Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

If you are interested in applying to posts in Northern Ireland, you will need to apply seperately on the Northern Ireland Medical and Dental Training Agency website.

Programme outcome

The anticipated outcome of the training programme, subject to satisfactory progression is Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) (CP). As of 18 May 2020, you may be eligible for CCT rather than CESR (CP) if you have completed the minimum number of years on a UK training programme for your specialty applicable under EU legislation.

Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists

The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gyneacologists (RCOG) provides useful information about the specialty training programme and what you can expect from a career in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. 

You are encouraged to register with the RCOG so you can recieve updates about training opportunities and other events.
